Project Description The Republic of Mauritius is increasingly recognizing the importance of transitioning towards clean and sustainable energy sources to address environmental concerns and reduce dependency on fossil fuels. In its 2021/2022 budget measures, the Government of Mauritius has taken the commitment to increase the contribution of renewable energy (RE) by 60% in the electricity mix by 2030. In pursuit of its goal, the Government in collaboration with its partners, has been actively promoting the adoption of renewable energy technologies, with solar PV panels emerging as a key component in the electricity-s renewable energy mix. The UNDP Country Office (CO) has been collaborating with the Government of Mauritius in its endeavor to remove bottlenecks to deployment and scale-up on renewable energy in Mauritius.
